Welcome To Troop 494!

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all. ----Helen Keller (1880 - 1968)

Our Troop meets on Tuesday evenings from 7:15 - 9:00 pm in room A-200 at Dunwoody Baptist Church. We offer a challenging, traditional Scouting program - a game with a purpose! Through weekly meetings and monthly campouts, the boys learn to function as a team in their patrols. Leadership skills are learned hands-on in the outdoor classroom. The Scout Oath, Law and Motto guide all of our actions. If you are interested in a boy-led, traditional Scouting program, we welcome you to visit us. Stop by one of our meetings, or contact our Scoutmaster. The Scoutmaster is Brent Allen (scoutmaster@dunwoody494.mytroop.us) The Troop Committee Chair is Lee Firebaugh (committeechair@dunwoody494.mytroop.us)

Often the difference between a full life and a cramped existence is measured in terms of our opportunities to test our physical strength against the elements of the wilderness. ----W.K. Merrill The Hiker's & Backpacker's Handbook

All,

Please join me in congratulating Greg Patterson and Paul Spencer for receiving the Hightower Trail District Trailblazer Award at the District Awards Banquet last night!  The Trailblazer Award is to "recognize your tireless devotion to the development of Scouting in your unit.  A modern-day "trailblazer," you set the example for those around you."

Troop 494 Tri-Mountain Jacket

Posted on Jan 23 2010 - 10:03pm
Second Order - Due February 2.
We have come up with a Troop 494 Jacket for those interested.  The jackets will be embroidered with the attached design, on the front left.  I have this same jacket from a Wood Badge course, and I can vouch for the quality - it is very good!  I will have mine at the meetings, if you wish to see it (pardon the smell of a campfire).  It is several years old, but still looks brand new.  Color is Forest Green.
